There has been some amazing talent that has caught my attention over the past year. Some old faces, some new faces, and a lot of new connections to random people through the internet that I am now lucky enough to call friends. We did Collect features on some artists and I wanted to recap a few of them, plus add some new ones to be on the watch out for.

First I’ll begin with some more ‘traditional’ (if I can say that?) photographers.

– Traditional Photographers –

Chris Lambeth

We did an artist feature on Chris a few months back, as his imagery blew us away. His use of light and gorgeous models can’t help but give an ethereal feel to many of his images, and I am really excited to see how he challenges himself and other photographers in the area to rise up to a new level.

Joshua Monteith

We did another artist feature on Josh as well, a Coeur d’Alene photographer who has particularly stunning black and white film images from the northern Idaho area, as well as Brooklyn and Seattle (and surely elsewhere). He runs a blog called “Anything Helps” where he records audio of conversations with strangers he meets, accompanied with their photo. Josh is working on moving back to Seattle but his talent is only sure to grow.

Brandon Vasquez

Brandon is a rooted member not just in the photography scene but also as a musician in the area. He preforms with Dead Serious Lovers as well as the new band Moon Talk, and like those bands his photography is also a real gem. Clean and profound, his aesthetic comes across strongly through his imagery and his work is always something I enjoy coming across.

Alycia Lovell

I just recently discovered Alycia through Instagram and immediately asked if she could help us with the 2nd Collect Secret Show and join our team for the night. I loved her cleanliness and how seamlessly she executes current photographic trends while also doing so in a way that makes her stand out. I’m definitely excited to watch how her craft changes in 2014.

Mobile Photographers

Right when it felt like all soccer-mom’s and uncle Bobs had their hands on a DSLR, suddenly came the revolutionizing photographic trend of the iphoneographer (not exclusively to Apple, other devices are used as well, obviously). You no longer needed a camera with interchangeable lenses and a mirror to photograph the poignant moments of life; all you had to do was pull out of your pocket what you already had with you. With such accessibility and increasingly better apps that help you edit images you take in-phone, mobile photography has uncovered a quickly growing number of exceptional photographers. Here are some local Instagram photographers I think you should follow.

Stephen Alkire

@stephenalkire takes some really gripping images with his phone. His colors are generally a little muted and cold, and his compositions are pretty exceptional. Check out his Instagram here. http://instagram.com/stephenalkire

Jaime Parker

@foreverinthestars is a new one in my feed, she found me a few weeks back as she was making the move back to Spokane after being gone for the past 4 years. Jaime has been taking some really great shots around the area in the past month she’s been back, of hiking, her dog, and just being back home. I am really excited to be able to include her in this post. Follow her here: http://instagram.com/foreverinthestars

Joe Greer

@ioegreer was featured by Collect in 2013 in another artist feature. Joe is a Florida transplant who is attending school up here in Spokane and is a self taught photographer, via his iPhone. It’s pretty amazing to see some of the crazy things he’s been able to do with his camera phone. Check out his feed here: http://instagram.com/ioegreer

Mason Sutter

@__mason is a Spokane native who always does an exceptional job at capturing the natural beauty of Spokane in rather simple ways. Adventures with his film camera seem to have great back up with his iPhone camera too, and he’s been sharing some real quality shots on his feed. Follow him here: http://instagram.com/__mason
