Pickwick is Northwest soul at its core, and even still it’s breaking out of its boundaries with their debut LP Can’t Talk Medicine. Seattle Met named lead singer Galen Disston as Seattle’s best voice, “Simply put, he’s the best singer in the Seattle music scene.” That’s quite a statement to make for the home of countless west coast record labels and as one of music’s holy lands.

Can’t Talk Medicine has a heavy bass and every track makes you want to move, though it’s a bit harder to sing along with Disston’s incredible range. The track “Hacienda Motel” packs a punch while the lead track “Lady Luck” even includes a collaboration with Sharon Van Etten. Their live performance fills the stage with not just amazing musicians but with dancing as well, and the few shows that they’ve already played in Spokane have had amazing turn outs full of die hard fans. For their debut LP having just been released last year, Pickwick has been building up their fan base quickly and to a point where you’d think they’d already been around for many more years than they actually have.

Catch Pickwick’s set on Sunday, September 7th as the final act of Bartfest.
